Leon Cogan
Leon was born in Tokyo on May 9, 1977, and came to live in Vancouver, Canada, when he was 9 months old. His sister was born one year later in Vancouver.
Ever since he was a child, Leon’s two passions in life were snowboarding and listening to music; he could always be found either on a mountain or at a music store. He also had a brilliant sense of humour which carried him through best and worst times alike. But perhaps, his most remarkable qualities were his kindness and generosity towards everyone he ever met. He was loved deeply by his family and friends and we still miss him dearly.
The Leon Cogan Memorial Fund has been established in honour of Leon’s memory. Leon struggled with epilepsy throughout his life and, as his illness progressed, his ability to snowboard safely became a challenge. He believed that the beauty and benefits of winter sports should be accessible to everyone.
The Leon Cogan Memorial Fund aims to provide ongoing support to VASS, so that it can continue to bring happiness and wellbeing to all of its participants.
