BECOME A VASS ANGEL…
VASS is a non-profit organization that does a lot more than just help people with disabilities learn how to ski and snowboard. The lessons that we deliver, empower people to expose their abilities through snow sports and there is often an impact in all the areas of their lives.
There is no doubt that we do “Make the Mountains Accessible to All”.
The other side of the coin, is that we are run with volunteer instructors. These are members of our communities that have a passion for the snow and giant hearts, that want to give back. VASS commits to training these instructors under the guidance of Canadian Adaptive Snowsports, which is our national training organization. And this enables us to deliver high standards of lesson delivery.
It is amazing that we were founded in 1974 and are currently the largest organization in Canada delivering adaptive lessons. In 2020 we had over 450 volunteers delivering almost 1500 lessons. The power of volunteering with VASS is often overlooked. Not only does it address the need for people to exercise, be outdoors, give back and more, but these are also solutions to good mental health. Mental health is something that as a population, we are starting to further understand. We all have a personal and community responsibility towards one another.
VASS is proud to have created a multi-surfaced winning strategy for all.
