The programs on this page are designed to promoted ski and snowboard groups that allow a students and support person, family member or friends, to learn how to play and enjoy the mountains together. We have the ability to work with people that are brand new to the sport as well as those that have any level of competency on the mountains. Please read through below to learn how the programs differ and select the best fit for you.
SUPPORT/ FAMILY SKI
Available on all Mountains and through all disciplines $100
This is was a pilot program in 2020 for VASS, with the end goal of creating ski families/groups. And we are expanding the program to encourage training and participation in all of our programs with family, friends and supporters.
HOW IT WORKS: First you need to ensure that the person that you are going o be supporting, has secured a spot in one of you 6 weeks programs. Once that is done, you can sign up. First we are going to offer the support person some training before we get going the student on hill.
NEW SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDER: If you are brand new to the mountains, we are going to teach you to ski or snowboard and about several of the safety protocols around playing on a mountain. 4 evening lessons in total, with a focus on person development and one session on basic use of adaptive equipment. Fees cover rentals if needed and a season pass to Grouse or privileges at other mountain programs. You will need you own clothing, helmet and a BCAS membership which is $53, which can be signed up in your own profile registration.
6-9pm JAN 2,4,9,11 2023 (Mondays and Wednesdays)
EXPERIENCED SKIING: If you can already ski at a green run level, then you will have 2 classes. The first lesson for us to go and ski and look at drills to grow skills and the second to address basic adaptive equipment. Fees cover rentals if needed and a season pass to Grouse or privileges at other mountain programs. You will need you own clothing, helmet and a BCAS membership which is $53, which can be signed up in your own profile registration.
6-9pm Jan 6 & 13, 2022 ( Thursdays)
PROGRAMMING WITH STUDENT: Your student will be already in a program and you will be invited to attend all 6 weeks. The first 3 weeks, you will be an observer and maybe still working on your own skiing. In the last 3 weeks, you will be integrated into the lesson, with the goal of being independent as a pair at the end of 6 weeks. The student can be at an level and the adult participant must be a strong green run skier as a minimum. There are only 30 spots available and after signing up, you will be contact for a quick interview to ensure that a high success rate for everyone. This program is only $100 and is an add on to your student having secured a spot in a 6 week program. You will sign up as a student yourself, need to complete a profile and have a CADS membership. ($53) When you signup, please indicate on the Club Information Request tab, who you will be supporting. VASS will find away to support your development however we can. If you are over the age of 10 and want to accompany a friend or sibling of your on a adaptive ski lesson, we will teach you how to ski as well. And we will help you learn how to support your friend.

There are only 10 spots available and after signing up, you will be contact for a quick interview to ensure that a high success rate for everyone. Friday Night Ski And Snowboard Club | Grouse Mountain $250
5-8pm Jan 27-Mar 3 (Friday Nights)
This program is intended for friends and family that want to ski or ride together after achieve some level of independents after learning to ski or snowboard with our VASS programs. The goal of this program is to have a time and place that friends and family can enjoy the mountain together without direct lessons being delivered. There will be a few instructors on the mountain to assist in using the yurt and getting any specialized equipment that participants may need. And if you have a few questions about skiing or boarding, they will be there for some assistance. There is the great side benefit of getting to meet some new people, and to promote this there will be a 8pm hot chocolate rendezvous at the yurt each night. Program runs for 6 weeks.
Students that identify as having a disability will register as a student in this program. Friends or family will also register as a students but under a different registration. Anyone over the age of 15 that is skiing to support the family member or friend will register as a INSTRUCTOR VOLUNTEER. Everyone will need to have their CADS membership and everyone will have their own profile with VASS. The CADS membership are $48 for instructor volunteers and $53 for everyone else.
Participants and friends and family under the age of 15 can use rentals included in the price if needed. Participants cost $250 and Friends and family under the age of 15 will cost $100.
All Instructor Volunteers, people over the age of 15, will have to arrange their own ski or board rentals. Cost for Instructor Volunteers… FREE.
