At VASS, we believe it takes a village.

Both of these programs are designed for family members, friends, and peers who do not require adaptive instruction themselves and want to develop the skills and confidence to ski or snowboard alongside their VASS student and support them on their journey of learning.

Who It’s For

The Friends & Family Program is designed for friends or family members who want to learn how to ski and snowboard or simply refresh skills they may not have used in years. Whether it’s been 5 years or 20 years since you’ve been on the slopes, you are welcome to join us, build your confidence, and eventually support your student independently on the mountain.

How It Works

First, you will receive lessons in the first half of January to help you feel confident on the mountain, whether you are a never-ever or you are refreshing your skills. Once your student’s lessons begin in the later half of January, you will join them and remain with them for all 6 lessons. The focus will shift to your student during those 6 weeks, but you will gain valuable tips and techniques throughout their lessons.

Who It’s For

This program is designed for friends or siblings between 5-15 years of age who would like to accompany a student for adaptive ski lessons. This peer remains with their sibling or friend for the duration of the 6-week program.

How It Works

Once the student has been accepted into a 6-week program, the peer or friend will also be accepted into the same program. The goal is that both of you are at similar developmental levels, allowing us to teach both of you together. There are only 10 spots available.

Please note: Rental equipment is provided only during scheduled program lessons – not for personal use throughout the season. Family & Friends participants receive rentals for all eight sessions in the Green Program or all ten sessions in the Never-Ever Program.
