VASS students depend on VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTORS to provide their weekly lessons. If you have not yet reviewed this year’s VASS PROGRAMS don’t hesitate! We invite you to see how we are working towards making the mountain more accessible to students by providing a wider variety of options on the mountains.
On Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. an information night is scheduled at Café Barcelona – 1049 Granville St, between Nelson and Helmcken, Vancouver.
You will learn more about VASS and how to become a qualified instructor.
If you can not make the information night, you can still become a volunteer – our new web site will provide you with a lot of information at https://vass.ca/volunteer
The first thing is to obtain your Disabled Skiers Association of British Columbia (DSABC) membership for insurance purpose and to obtain some preferred rates and discounts on lessons and lift tickets at participating mountains throughout the province – Sign up HERE.
When you have obtained your DSABC membership then you can sign up to become a VASS ski / snowboarding instructor – sign up HERE.
Two CSIA / CASI courses are scheduled for the season 2010/2011: The first course runs on Sunday, December the 12th and the second course on Saturday, December the 18th.
Two CADS Level I courses are scheduled for the season 2010/2011: The first course runs on January the 7th, 8th, and 9th and the second course on January 14th, 15th, and 16th.
VASS always needs talented volunteers off the mountain slops to help in various areas of fundraising, marketing, volunteer management, website, equipment, coordination of social events, etc…Please email info@vass.ca to express your interest.
It is a busy time for everyone, but your commitment now will ensure that we have adequate Volunteer Instructors for our 2011 students.

On the first Tuesday of every month the Synergy Foundation presents Just Singin’ Round at the Rowing Club in Stanley Park.
What is Just Singin’Round?
It’s an evening of musical entertainment provided by local and visiting artists, which raises funds for various local charity organisations, such as VASS. For a donation of $25, each guest receives a meal prepared by Emile’s Catering while they sit back and enjoy music provided by founders Yvonne McSkimming, Mark James Fortin and Beverly Elliot, together with MC Denny Williams (of Theatre Sports fame) and a showing of guest artists – all in the beautiful setting of the Vancouver Rowing Club.
